On a lighter note - I still don't like socks with sandals

I follow a few fashion houses, including the likes of Ted Baker, Kate Spade, and Maison Simons ( a really great Canadian company). Recently, I'm seeing a spike in their photography depicting models in really beautiful clothing wearing various forms of sandals with socks. Sigh.

I don't know why they're doing this, it's not an attractive look, never has been. Yet, some of the more iconic sources of fashion are doing this, again. Maison Simons is really bad for this, it's littered through their online catalog and usually paired with really bad shoe choices for the clothing.

This image with the blue mermaid dress is a great example. The dress is gorgeous, but the look is ruined by boring photography coupled with bad styling at the feet. If she has ugly feet, don't do a full body shot or pick a nice pump that compliments the dress. The slides are even worse, that blue is, um, special.

Okay, okay, this is really a first world problem, but I just had to vent about it when Ted Baker started doing it on Instagram with an even more hideous combination. Why, oh why, are they doing this?

Whenever I see this combination, all I can think of is:
