Failed when it mattered

I'm just going to be blunt: fuck the NHL.
There's been a few stories recently about teams or players not wearing pride themed equipment for the warmup during team Pride nights because of whatever excuse players want to manufacture. Lot's of "oh well" platitudes from the teams and the league, giving them a pass, but let's be clear: the NHL didn't have the spine to stand up when it mattered most.

There's no allyship when you collapse when the situation is tough. The NHL really just wanted to look good with the LGBTQ+ community, they didn't want to actually support it. They are the epitome of rainbow capitalism.

Xtra* Magazine has a great article that sums it beautifully: The NHL’s commitment to diversity doesn’t extend to trans people.

So, basically, fuck the NHL. No interest in them anymore.

I identify as... Stop! It's what I am.

The expression "identifies as" gets used a lot when talking about trans and non-binary people. It's also used by a lot of bigots to denigrate the trans experience. It's an expression that I would like to see fade away.

What does dysphoria feel like to me?

This question made the rounds on Twitter recently and it's a powerful and deeply interesting one I think. However, before I dive into how it feels for me, I want to be clear: dysphoria is not a requirement for being trans.
