Toronto Pride 2023: The Trans March

Pride Weekend in Toronto kicked off with a huge celebration of Trans Joy and a push back on the bigots.

Thousands of trans people and our allies walked the streets of downtown Toronto again this year and it was bigger and better than last year. What stood out for me, beyond the sea of beautiful faces in the march, was the much bigger audience of supporters and well-wishers that joined us along the route despite the cloudy, cool, and rainy weather.

I identify as... Stop! It's what I am.

The expression "identifies as" gets used a lot when talking about trans and non-binary people. It's also used by a lot of bigots to denigrate the trans experience. It's an expression that I would like to see fade away.
