Nail experiments

So, I'm not yet at a stage where I'm going to go to work, virtually or otherwise, with a beautiful gel manicure. Hopefully not all that far away, but not today. So, is there an option for me in the meanwhile?

That's where the Zoya Naked Manicure comes in to the picture. The idea is that you have polished nails, but they aren't coloured, the polish is transparent/lightly pigmented. So, the set I got has the base, a buff polish, and a satin top coat which seemed to be pretty close to my natural look.

Verdict? Not bad. The satin coat isn't all that satin, there's more shine than I would have expected, but it's not too bad. I am okay with it, it's no more so than the OPI nail envy matte strengthener, and I've been wearing that a lot recently.

In general, application is pretty standard: base coat, two coats of the polish, top coat. I wait about 2 minutes between coats, usually doing one had first and then the other. I usually give the top coat about 5 minutes before really doing anything with it. The top coat is not a quick dry, but you can use quick dry drops with it. I didn't have the drops but I'll be careful not to smudge it.

Anyways, if you have trouble with easily damaged nails, like I do, then this may be an option. As for me, I'm okay with a little sheen and I like the feel of polish on my nails. So, I'm going to stick with it for now.

Tips on changing your name in Ontario

I've been blogging about changing your name and gender marker here and there, so now that is basically done for me, I thought I would share some tips I learned along the way,

Yes, I'm envious...

This is the Alice Cos Group , a dance group from China that features only males in their cast. They are all, to put it mildly, simply gorgeous and dammit, I'm just a little jealous! Admittedly, at my current age (let's just say that I go back a few decades and leave it at that) there is zero chance that I would ever be able to pull off the look even remotely as well as they can, but hey, a gal can dream! I'm also really jealous that they actually live a life practically straight out of a Fictionmania story; I would have leapt at such a chance at that age. Ah well, such is the dice of life. Anyways, a sample of their work:
